Live Subtitles and Post-Session Reviews Are Here
Two things we kept hearing: "I can't always follow what Michel is saying" and "I wish I could see what we talked about after." Both are fixed now.
Live subtitles during your session
Tap the CC button during any session and you'll get French subtitles as Michel speaks. They appear below the orb, paced to match his speech so you're reading along, not racing ahead.
Subtitles stay on screen for a few seconds after Michel finishes, then fade out. When he starts a new thought, the previous text clears.
The CC button appears inline with the timer during your session. Tap it on, tap it off. Your preference sticks between sessions.
Post-session review
After your session ends, you now see a full review of your conversation before the feedback form. It includes:
- The full transcript in chat-bubble format. Michel on the left, you on the right. Scroll through to see exactly what was said.
- A summary of how the conversation went.
- What you did well. Specific things, not generic praise.
- Corrections showing what you said, what the correct form is, and why. Only real errors, and only the ones that matter.
- Vocabulary to review. Québécois words and expressions Michel used that are worth remembering, with English translations and the sentence they appeared in.
The review catches things that might have gone by too fast during the actual conversation. It's generated from your specific session, so it's always relevant to what you and Michel actually talked about.
These features work together
Subtitles help you follow along in real time. The review helps you retain what you learned after. You can use one without the other, or both.
If you're just starting out, turn subtitles on and use the review to build vocabulary. If you're more comfortable, keep subtitles off and use the review to catch mistakes you didn't notice in the moment.
Both features are live right now. Open MononcleAI, start a session, and see how it feels.
On jase bientôt.
